LORISSA'S KITCHEN

I was hired by ad agency Carmichael Lynch to create a chalk lettering installation for brand-new snack company Lorissa's Kitchen, which makes premium protein snacks, like jerky but with higher water content, which makes it super tender and delicious.

Lorissa's Kitchen launched its product at the Alt Summit conference in January 2016. In their sponsor lounge, they had me create a chalk mural (including their logo) over the course of the conference, for the attendees to see and enjoy.

FANNIE MAY CHOCOLATES

In July 2015, Fannie May hired me to redesign their logo in an authentic, hand-lettered style with slight variation in repeated letters.


Final Sketches
The client preferred #2 of the stacked logo on round 2 of sketches. They requested a little less weight variation between thicks and thins, a little less bounce in the baseline, and to see how it looked with the M curving around the A a little bit more. In the final vector logo, we ended up adjusting the M to be shorter so that we could fit the company's tagline underneath. I also adjusted the shape of the cross of the F, according to the client's request.


Second Round of Sketches
The client selected a direction #2 from the first round of sketches and asked for a thicker line weight and for it to be less bouncy along the baseline.


First Round of Sketches
I created three logo concepts based off of the client's initial brief. They wanted the letters to have a matching forward slant and a thicker line weight than their previous logo. They also wanted the letters to be a bit bouncy.

HOM SWEET HOM COLLAB

Lauren Hom of Hom Sweet Hom and I met at Ken Barber's Freehand Lettering Workshop in NYC and made the connection that we both worked at Cold Stone for our first jobs in high school. Since we both frequently work with food brands, we decided to make a tasty collaboration of our connection by bringing to life some of our favorite Cold Stone Signature Creations.

SCIENCE NEWS MAGAZINE

Science News Magazine hired me to create the cover for their February 2016 edition featuring their cover story about plastic in the ocean. They wanted me to use little bits of plastic for the material and to include the headline "The Plastisphere" and possibly some ocean waves.

Using tweezers and my hands, I carefully placed plastic beads of various sizes, shapes, and colors to bring the cover to life.

UK-based apparel company White Stuff hired me to design the cover for their Spring 2016 catalog as well as some additional imagery. The theme was "Weeds & Wonders", so they wanted me to use weeds and sticks to create the lettering and illustration for the cover, so I went foraging.

THE SWEET TOOTH FAIRY

I designed a banner image for The Sweet Tooth Fairy's website and a social media design using their delicious gourmet cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and cake bites (and I ate a lot of the leftovers!). The Sweet Tooth Fairy won Cupcake Wars on Food Network in 2012 and now has 10 shops around the U.S.


RED VINES

April 12 was National Licorice Day, so Red Vines hired me to create a couple of licorice-lettered designs to help them celebrate and promote the day on social media.

One of the designs they wanted was lettering animation featuring Red Vines as an important part of the movie theater experience over the past decades. I used popcorn and Red Vines to create a "neon sign" with sound effects to match, and in a style that would be found in vintage movie theaters.

Red Vines' current tagline is "Live on the sweet side", so they wanted me to create one static design with that saying and with beach imagery, since many of their current commercials showcase people enjoying Red Vines together in Southern California beach scenes.

Tubby Todd makes 100% natural bath products for sensitive-skinned babies. When Andrea Williams, the owner and co-founder wanted to hire me to create a stop-motion animated video featuring Tubby Todd products, I jumped at the chance.

I used ingredients from different Tubby Todd fragrances like citrus, lavender, mint, and rosemary to create a colorful and fun animation for the brand.

Flipboard hired me to bring to life the title of their Cannes Lions 2016 panel about the power and future of curation with Flipboard's CEO Mike McCue, curator of The Whitney Museum, Adam Weinberg, and New Yorker author Ken Auletta. Kyle Snarr, Flipboard's Director of Brand Communication, wanted me to use a mix of art supplies and technology to create a time-lapse video, and I chose to display it as a gradient to help visually organize the materials.

Solly Baby created a baby wrap in collaboration with paper goods brand Rifle Paper Co. They hired me to create a stop-motion animation video to announce the collaboration. Being a new mom myself and a huge fan of both brands, making this video was such a pleasure.

I worked with Gentleman Scholar on a pitch for Clorox Wipes using pancake batter, which helped Scholar to win the business! Due to maternity leave, I wasn't able to produce the TV spots with them, but I loved creating the design for the pitch.

I created a social countdown out of makeup and beauty products for Ulta Beauty's new store openings. Makeup was a new material for me, and it was a fun one to experiment with. Crumbling five containers of eye shadow was surprisingly satisfying.
